It's a Chinese unicorn. Typically named the Qilin but I like the word kirin the best.
If you've ever seen Princess Mononoke, the Spirit Guardian is pretty much a form of kirin.

I got hand-me-down ponies as a kid, but I never watched the show. I just liked horses in general and wanted to have a real horse to the point where I even got books explaining how to care for them. x'D
