I'll let this one enter some clerical chronological error and fall backwards in to the time stream and pop out where she was still alive. Just this once though! You're right, I didn't put it there. But I'm doing it anyway, because every convoluted overly complicated story needs time traveling to make it utterly shot! Pffft don't beat yourself up mate, you're fine. At the very absolute worst I would just say ask someone else. =P Time traveling question incoming! Besides, you didn't really make it in until after she was dead, so you get to ask her a question.
