That's what I do, as well. And I can let it slide if someone actually means "effectively" or "practically" because that's more of an emphatic exaggeration rather than a misused and misunderstood negation.

I got up for work this morning and it had snowed last night so all I had to do was brush it off my windows and be on my way! No scraping involved.

My stepsister also showed me the super secret Volkswagen technique for opening a stuck gas cover through the trunk.
