eh, it's all right, there's a lot of places that are regional and you don't realise it until you start saying things like 'i picked up dinner last night from wawa' - and then someone asks you what the heck is a wawa? XD

VA goer here. We've had wawa for yeeeears and years. Definitely not a new thing.

Wawa sounds familiar! I guessed it was a gas station and I was right! XD
Haven't seen one in years though since I don't live on the east coast anymore.

Same here, it just seems like gibberish to me.

"Wawa" is pretty much gibberish.

That said, I drive past one every day.

I was baffled when I moved to Utah and there was no Safeway or Fred Meyers. I had to figure out all these other regional grocery stores. What a pain.

Safeway is called IGA in some parts of the country. There's also... um... some third name for it that I can't remember.
Mega Man: The Light of Will (Mega Man / Green Lantern crossover: In the lead-up to the events of Mega Man 2, Dr. Wily has discovered emotional light technology. How will his creations change how humankind thinks about artificial intelligence? Sadly abandoned. Sufficient Velocity x-post)

Safeway also runs Carrs, Pak'n Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb, and Vons. It recently merged with Albertsons, which also runs ACME, Amigos, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Market Street, Sav-on, Shaw's and Star Market, Super Saver Foods, and United Supermarkets.

incidentally, I'm pretty sure IGA is unrelated.
