I have played several but not the original.

I think my mom played an early version but not the original one either--since the first one was in an arcade. She talks about going home from school and staying up trying to get high scores xD.

Actually, Donkey Kong never actually prevented the princess from leaving on her own, if I remember right she was actually walking around by him when Mario goes to 'rescue' her. So it might be possible that Donkey Kong was actually just guarding her. .-. By the way, I never played any of those games either. x'D
