Hello everyone. I was sitting here making avis because im just cool like that... anyways... I was making an avi and when I was finished I went to my layers and saw the list was long. So I counted them and when I was finished there was 27 layers.

This is not the most that I have ever had though. My record is 57 layers. So I want to know...how do you layer? How many layers is the most or least you have had?

I know I've hit 60 before, but I forget exactly how many. My avatar was looking really cluttered by then, though, and some of them were barely visible, so I pruned down to around 30 before my wife redid my avatar completely.

I use somewhere around 20 to build my typical avatar base. I'm obviously not using it right now, but I've built it enough times to have an idea, lol.

I like to use a lot of smaller items to build up the effect I want, starting right from the base. A long layering list usually just tells me I'm doing a good job.

When counting layers do we count above and below base? If so I feel I've reached at least 40 layers.
I think the least I did was6 or 7?

Ummmm, I think I got in the 70's once but that was a crazy avi with layers upon layers, typically I am somewhere in the 30s to 40s

I'm still collecting inventory and learning how to make avis here. Plus the layering list is confusing because I have things that are both above and below the base. However if I count items only once, it looks like this avi has 26 layers - the most I've ever had. :)

I tend to keep things pretty simple, usually around 10-25 layers at most... Some avs have more, some have less, just depends on how I feel like doing things.

This av, for example, has 14 layers total. It'd have 15, but I used the baseless option (I count the base as a layer. But I'm just weird)

I think I average somewhere around 15-25 layers per avatar
I've never thought to check before but I guess I'll be counting all the time now haha

This one here is one of my smaller ones with 11 layers hehe.

I tend to select all the items I think fit the theme/character, starting with the arms and waist - they are the most difficult - and arrange them in the way that creates the least incongruity. Then I remove ones I can't make fit, and spend more time on small items seeing if anything else fits. Sometimes that creates some new effect that I'll try later.

My backgrounds I use a different method I sort of map out a background ahead of time, and try to get the right items to fit. If I can't get it quite right, I'll adapt.

I think my record is around 50. I tend to be in my 30's.

Most layers I've had is my current avi. It has 36 above base, and 6 below. More could be added, but then some items won't show/ hide behind others. I prefer to keep my layer around 20-25, so that there won't be too much scrolling up and down to adjust layers.

I got over 20 one on of my avvies... Least? I don't know, maybe six?
