We used to have a little arcade place in town that had ddr. It was fun even though I wasn't the greatest at it. I mainly stuck with easy although on some songs I could do the next difficulty up.
I actually have a crap-ton of ddr games for my xbox right now, I just don't have any dance mats for it because they're actually kind of expensive since it's an original xbox and not like a 360 or anything..
Huh. One would suspect the accessories for older consoles become cheaper than more expensive. But I only have a balance board for the original Nintendo Wii, so I can't really judge.
Well, because so few people actually own the older consoles (because the new ones still play old games if I recall), companies don't make the old accessories for them anymore. So they're harder to find, especially in new condition.
There’s this one arcade thing I used to be really good at. It was like...this circular board with a light spinning around, and the closer the light was to a marker when you hit the button, to more tickets you’d get. Basically I can do things that only require a good sense of rhythm/timing :|
Speaking of which, I can do DDR on easy most of the time. Occasionally standard. Haven’t had enough practice. I’m used the the dance pads moreso than the arcade DDR platforms. You know, the ones that friggin stick to your feet.
Had a physics teacher in HS who held videogame meets every friday after class. He owned everyone at Street Fighter and DDR. (He also had cool tats, was a judo black belt, and knew thirteen ways to quickly kill a person bare-handed. We were at a private Catholic high...)
The one and only time I got pressured into trying Street Fighter, he decided to be my opponent and said he’d go easy on me. I, uh. Button-mashed. Heck, I can’t remember all the movesets.
Halfway through, I...was winning? And my friend goes “...do you even know what you’re doing?†“NOPE.†Beginner’s luck, I guess. My teacher ended up having to go all out against me and still lost xD I think I was the first person to beat him in a while.
Awesome! DDR! I don't get to do any of that anymore. Too busy with other stuff. But when I wasn't? I was the DDR champion! At least for my gang, anyway. I could dance their butts right off, and keep going.
That's pretty sweet!
I actually had one song that I could do sobwell on Standard that at the end of it, I could turn and do it backward, but that was the only one I was ever that good at. And I don't know which one it was anymore.
I pretty much only got to play on really rare occasion.
Sounds like a really awesome teacher. At my school, contact between students and teachers was pretty much limited to class hours. We did have several interns over the years who were younger than the average teacher, but even they were lucky to get away from us once the bell rang. I guess we weren't exactly the easiest bunch (though also far from the worst).
Don't think I've ever played that game with the button and light, but you describe it well enough to grasp the concept. It's definitely something I'd try if I got a chance.
Oh Raven, you have to show us some! I'll toss in a free drink of your choice. Yes yes I know, you have important things to do, but the night is still young so let's have fun while we're awake 'n' alive. *turns up the volume*
Or do you want to go first, Kaderin? I'm sure we can find your song in the playlist!
Lol. Yeah! Ddr showdown!
I kinda wanna get my xbox hooked back up. I can't actually dance, but a lot of the songs on easy can be played with a controller...
I will gladly show you. But I'll wait my turn. My boys will be off and about for a couple hours yet, and - as you said - the night is young! Let's party!
