We were fortunate that nothing in our fridge went bad the night our power went out. I didn't actually trust the milk though and made sure to pour what was left down the toilet.

Because that way I avoid getting a sour milk smell from the pipes, at least pouring it down the toilet and flushing dilutes the milk and clears it from the plumbing.
