so there goes that plan of working for chucklefish. which fucking sucks, but i might be able to get a decent job around here, even if it's not in a field i might like.

I finally fixed the issue I was dealing with. This, in and of itself, would normally be awesome, but taking a retrospective of the whole thing... very much not awesome. There were five distinct bugs working together to stymie me, and one of those bugs had already been fixed and it was the aftereffects lingering in the data that gave me grief, so I wasn't able to reproduce the problem in a test environment.

Beyond that... there were two separate places where the algorithm's data collection was missing information, and two separate calculations that were producing the wrong results. None of them would cause the problem on their own, and any one of them being fixed wouldn't be enough to solve the problem completely, so that meant that my tests were still failing after making changes so it looked like I was looking in the wrong place... but I WASN'T. >_<

I'm glad it's all taken care of, but I didn't get it all shipped out and verified until like 9:30 last night and I still have to deal with auditing everything today to make sure we didn't miss any hotel rooms this weekend.

i'd be up for it, but at the same time, i'd definitely need to learn how to do efficient coding.

i probably ought to make prototypes of a few games in unity or something, huh.

Nah, that's not something you'd need to learn for this. That would be my job. Game jams are all about hacking on it until it works, and who cares if it's clean or efficient -- if it's inefficient enough that it actually causes problems, then you can just ask for help.

i could theoretically make a few smaller games and see how it goes. maybe tie them all in with story. i'm probably a decent enough writer.

I have only an hour of class left and my boyfriend- who would have been the only one present at the house with a car and WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MY GD RIDE- literally JUST went in for a sudden shift at work. It was unplanned, so I have NO bus money. No money at fucking all, really. And to his boss, a "short" shift always fucking takes 4 hours longer than planned. So I'm fucking stuck here, and I'm not even allowed to be fucking mad because we need the GD money.
Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't shark week, because now I'm just trying not to break down crying in class

Oh yeah, and apparently we can't afford for me to get new shoes, so I'm expected to walk to work in flip flops. You know, to printing and graphics, where safety regulations dictate I CAN'T wear sandals/flip flops. Nevermind the fact that the route to work is unpaved and tilts like 35 fucking degrees the entire way.

Escalate. Seriously, go up the chain. If the company requires you to do something that would require you to violate established health-and-safety regulations, that's not just irritating, it's illegal and they MUST accommodate you.

It's just work study at the college, so they'd probably just send me home. They don't exactly have the funding to help me get shoes for my big-ass feet, even for a day

Also, I managed to beg for enough change to catch the bus, but my flip flops and feet are COVERED in mud. I had to rush across 12 mile to catch the eastbound (since my dumb ass was on the westbound) and apparently they're redoing the road and it's a fucking mess of rubble and mud.

Oh, that makes a difference then. You're right, they probably would just tell you not to work in that case and expect you to provide your own shoes.
