We have an endless supply of geckos here and one lost its tail and it made it easy to keep track of it for over a year since it kept to the same hiding spot. I think it had some babies.

They could probably form any shape though. Maybe there's something more useful? Like creating a human form so you can qualify for the minimum occupants per vehicle for the HOV lane and not get a ticket.
