What is the protocol for deleting threads?

In some forums, you can report your own thread and request it be deleted.
I tried that on another forum recently and here I went to report my own thread recently but was met with a note that said, "this is ONLY to be used for spam, scams and to report abuse" (paraphrasing)

Is there any way one can delete their own thread?
Or would I have to DM an admin?
And if can delete the thread, how many threads can be deleted per user?
I know some forums have a cap on how many times you can delete a thread

It's not something that comes up often, to be honest. I'm not aware of very many legitimate reasons to delete a Trisphee thread at all, since there's no rule limiting how many threads you can make and there is a rule saying that the OP doesn't own threads except in specific circumstances (mostly shops).

If you've accidentally made a duplicate thread, then just report the first post. That's totally fine.

If you have a thread that you have a good reason to want to delete, and if it's a thread that our rules acknowledge as being actually yours, then reporting the first post is probably the best way to go about that as well. We're not very strict about it and there aren't any specific limits on how many times you can do it.
