I hate Pinterest with a fiery passion. Not only does it have abusive content restrictions like that, it rehosts SO MUCH content that finding stuff on Google Image Search and tracing it back to the original creator is a massive headache. I just want to provide proper credit, and Pinterest makes it bloody near impossible sometimes!

so because i have a google account, i connected it *once* to Pinterest, so now when a Pinterest hit comes up in a google search, i don't get "yelled" at that i can't view it.

however: two things bother me about Pinterest, and they're related. the first one is that there aren't any instructions, even briefly, on how to make things (so that cool crochet thing i might have found doesn't even direct me to a page with a pattern). the second thing is that, working at a craft store, i'd get customers who would show me a pic on their phone, wanting to know if we have any of the items to make the thing they found. many times it's a "best guess" of what it might actually be, and we might not actually have the items either.

You didn't connect it once. You connected it ongoing. Now every time you view a Pinterest page they know it was you, and Google knows which Pinterest pages you've viewed.

If you trust both Google and Pinterest, this isn't a problem. If you're concerned that someone might be able to hack Pinterest to do naughty things with the linked account, it might be. Fortunately, the website's Google login only grants access to your name, email address, profile picture, and language selection, so there's not a lot of damage that an attacker could actually do -- although the mobile app also gets access to your contact list and your saved media folders.

Signing in, regardless of how you sign in, also grants Pinterest a license to spam you if they want.

THANK YOU! I actually was beginning to feel like the only one who didn't like pinterest. Literally everyone else I know is always singing the praises of Pinterest and I just can't understand why they like it so much.

true. i mis-typed. lemme try that again.

this one time i went to Pinterest, i said "sure, i'll sign in with google." and the rest is history. i click on Pinterest links so rarely, it just doesn't bother me. but i don't have it bookmarked, nor do i visit Pinterest as often as some of my other sites (rivalry, i'm looking at you XD )

I always thought Pintrest was like a DIY project site where you can save things and "pin" them someplace to look at later or save them so you can know how to make or create certain things.

You're not that far off. Pinterest is a "social bookmarking" site. It's not specifically DIY stuff. You can pin anything. And anyone can look at everything you've pinned.

The crafting community found it in its early days so it kinda snowballed -- if you look for crafting stuff, you'll probably find another crafter's Pinterest pins, which might encourage you to join Pinterest and pin more crafting stuff, so other people find it...

I sorta had to with all the energy,
but I was kinda sorta productive today.
Yay for me! I doodled something!

Happy that I get to just work a kind of half day at my one job today because I am exhausted and there's really nothing else for me to do anyway right now so having a few extra hours to relax before I have to go to the other job will be nice.

my retail store (hopefully) opens up on June 5th. we shall see.
