Vampires bursting into flame in sunlight wasn't introduced until the 1922 movie Nosferatu, which was loosely based on Dracula. It was adapted into other Dracula films, but there was absolutely no mention in the book Dracula itself - whether it was for ancient/"original" vampires or otherwise - of vampires being unable to go about in sunlight.
