The computer I am using does that as well, as far as I know MACS don't do that. I get a symbol that represents an unknown character. Which is what I see for all Japanese Kanji except for maybe two or three. ;~~;

Hmm I don't know. my computer is literally BRAND new. I just got it less then 3 weeks ago.
