when I got stuck on heartgold, I just took a couple-day break and shoved my pokemon in the pokewalker. I shook them up while I read a few books, and leveled 'em up a few levels.
also, fighting the elite four and losing after the first two or three is actually great experience and money. you earn more from winning, especially with an amulet coin, than you lose from losing.

I can't see the Pokemon business people wanting to loose any extra money that can be made with walkers.
