my astronomy teacher was Indian, and he told us about how in India, they used to think that the phases of the moon were caused by a giant snake slowly gobbling it up and then pooping it back out; lather, rinse, repeat. XD

Easy for people to mis-read the wordings if you say about Native American Indians. You would have put that there in the first place.
