The religion I made up with my friends considers a thing called "pie-cake" to be it's holy sacrament, if you can ever find or make such a thing. Cheesecake seems to fit into that category of awesome holy deliciousness...
Bonnie, I have made the holy pike before -- two different kinds, in fact.
My first pike was a strawberry shortpike. It starts with a pie crust, then a layer of homemade strawberry pie filling (my grandmother taught me how to make it), then a layer of white cake, then a layer of pie filling, then a layer of white cake, and I frosted the top with Cool Whip.
The second was a quadruple-chocolate pike. The crust was crushed oreos. The filling was milk chocolate pudding. The layers were dark chocolate cake. The frosting was creamy chocolate frosting. AND THEN THERE WERE SPRINKLES.
But as cheesecake goes, the pizza place here where I live sells CHEESECAKE PIZZA.
There are some no-bake cheesecakes out there but the traditional cheesecake recipe I've made from scratch does indeed involve baking.
It's Larry's Pizza, which IS a chain, but the recipe was invented by the owner of the local franchise so I don't think you'll be able to find it anywhere else.
