no such thing as too young or too old to know what love is. Love is an emotion which you are completely capable of feeling even as a child. Otherwise you wouldn't have "puppy love" or attachments to friends/family. The chemicals in your brain can trigger at any time.

Love doesn't have to be wholly head over heels. Having a strong bond and the person being your partner can still be love. If you didn't love them in some manner you wouldn't have been with them in the first place nor would you have put up with as much as you had.
