For staff members, we have reasons...

For everyone else, it's usually because they want to plan something with the name (like I want to make the mule "TARDIS" and dress it in all blue with yellow eyes for the lights in the sign, just for jollies) or for roleplay characters or for what mules really are meant for, which is to store extras of an item and store money (sort of like a bank account, where it's not at your fingertips so you're less likely to spend it all).

I use it to steal names, in all honesty XD

That's something you're not supposed to use mules for.

As long as you actually use the mule for something, it's fine to think of a name and make a mule because you want it, but we don't want name-squatters here. It's unfair to people who want a name, look it up, and find that it's taken with no posts and no avatar.
