I have been reading the 2012 book for the last hour or so and it is pretty good. Mostly it is debunking the idea that the Mayans would consider the date as an "end" of the world so much as a new beginning.

My mom got two book about obesity in the united states, including one that focuses on diabetes in obese persons.

She also got a crochet pattern book. xD

That sounds interesting.

I've seen some programs on that Mayan 2012 date thing.

Yeah. It was kind of like a millennial New Year Eve instead of Armageddon/Ragnarok.

All I knew on the subject was that it was the end of the long count. What that really meant to the Mayans was up for debate in my mind.

Their long count calendar was so long, I'm not sure the Maya were around long enough to watch it go by.

I'm still iffy on the 2012 thing.

there are still mayan descendants living in the yucatan today... however i doubt they still live by the ancient calandar. xD

something briefly mentioned in the book was the instance of people booking "doomsday vaacations"to chichen itza and machu pichu... xD
