Socks are just meant to go in mated pairs -- like certain birds. XD
Default #162
Yeah, I don't plan on making a mate for that one, since it was sort of a "test run", plus I want to do the two-at-a-time method, like I am doing for a pair of fingerless gloves. It is a bit fussy, but it kills Second Sock Syndrome.
Default #163
Oh no!! The poor mateless dear! v.v

At least it shall not happen to any of his brethren.
Default #164
Yes he is doing all right though, he'll have some knitted toys to keep him company he doesn't like socks anyway... *shifty*

haha Yes although I don't know how many I will be making XD. Well, I would need sock weight yarn... I don't have enough of that to make a pair.
Default #165
Oh dear! You need to get more yarn before you make more socks then. ^.^
Default #166
Yeah, but I already have plenty of non-sock yarn that needs to be used up so my goal is to use that u p before I buy more XD. I mean, i've already bought more sicne I've said that, but.. not much.

What are you planning to make with it?

A scarf? An afghan? a shawl?
Default #168
No idea, that's the trouble. I don't have enough to make much interesting, I already have too many half-assed scarves and whatnot anyway xD.

Maybe a hairband.

My Mom knitted me one or two of those to wear outside in the winter to cover my ears when I was in school.
Default #170
Nah, I've got hats and I don't have much hair to hold xD.

What about gloves? Too much like socks?

I've seen little knitted finger puppets. XD
Default #172
I've seen those as well XD.

Gloves are actually quite different from socks, more complicated but they don't have heel shaping to deal with XD. I have not made any complete gloves although I almost finished a "finger-only" glove for my sister. I dind't finish because it was too small, and I kind of got discouraged xP.

I guess the finger parts would be hard to knit.

I just didn't know what might take less yarn than a sock.

Maybe a bookmark.
Default #174
Individually the fingers are fine, depending on how you knit them they can be like little tiny hats with long tubes attached or just tubes that are joined at the end, but the most difficult part is probably the separation of the hand into fingers (or the joining of the fingers to the hand, depending on which way you started). They'd probably take less yarn than a pair of socks, but I don't really need gloves atm. I guess xP.

Oh! Mittens would be easier than gloves.

But I guess you don't need them either.
Default #176
Yeah not really XD. Right now, most of the things that I would be knitting to wear, probably would nto be wearable at the moment XD.
