I hope so. It's a terrible tradition. I didn't go to mine, so I'm not entirely sure what it's about, but I do know that every year around this time, the senior class gets in their cars early, before school starts, and drives around waking the whole neighborhood up. Then they have a local field trip of some kind, that usually turns into a drunken disaster with the police involved.

I've never heard of anything like that around here, but it sounds obnoxious. All we have is Senior Skip day... which is silly, because what else are most seniors doing for most of the year? =P

What kind of depresses me is that my high school class was the "good" class. Every class under us was successively worse. By senior year, among the lower grades, there was rampant drug-dealing, fighting, theft, vandalism, and even an assault on an elderly hall monitor that left the poor woman unable to come back to work for the rest of the year.

And I wouldn't really describe my class as outstanding specimens of humanity, for the most part, but they were never that bad.

I can't imagine what it's like there, now.

Your old high school sounds like a scary place Suzerain. Are you sure all that sword collecting was just for show? :P

That's the thing, we're not supposed to be that sort of community. I live on island for heaven's sake. There's less than 10,000 people here. You'd think they could just get along. I really wonder what parents are doing to have their children turn out this way, though... maybe it's something else, if so many are ending up that way.

Yeah, I live right in the middle of southside/northside hispanic gang wars, and your school still sounds scarier. =P Where do you live, anyway?

New York. Lovely little haven of the wealthy elite amid two destitute cities, called Grand Island. We're so not rich enough to live here.

Ahh, that makes more sense. I'm over in the west where there's no such thing as wealthy unless you own a meth lab. =P

You know that's another thing, all the kids over here are spoiled rotten. Why do they need to sell drugs? It must be for the "mystique" or something, I don't know. I somehow missed the whole peer pressure thing, probably because I went through that period of my life believing I was peerless. :p

What's ironic, though, is that my parents moved here so I wouldn't end up going to school in Niagara Falls, which is just a shambles of a city anymore, and was in decline even back then. Granted, I think there have been actual killings at schools there, so it was probably a good move.

I went to high school a long time ago before all of the high school killings and such were national news. I don't remember anything about selling drugs but there was cigarette use on my campus. It was pretty bad so the school actually had a "lounge" for them to smoke in even though it was illegal. I think it was just that they figured if there was a place to smoke they wouldn't do it in the bathrooms or the rest of the school grounds. And it did work...it was just a smelly part of the campus :P
