if you have access to one you should use a serger on the seams...or at least french seam it, that stuff loooooooves to fray out.

We don't have a serger but what's a french seam, I've heard of a poor man's serger seam

if you google french seam it'll explain it better than I can, but yeah, even a poor man's serger seam may not be enough if it's the cheap borcade found at joanns

yeah, frays like it's trying to escape, so those are my recommendations.

I've used it a few times on borcades, antique satins and some sheer materials, it's the most effective to prevent the seams from fraying out.

I made drawstring bag out of brocade and it failed because of the fraying

hence my personal loathing of that material...if I can avoid using it I do.

well, brocade feels amazing, then my dick of a friend burned all the edges of my dotta dress that was made out of brocade then it itched like hell so I had to cut all of the burned edges off

::wincing:: attempting to melt the edges I assume? that never works since at least a small percentage is rayon, which is a man-made silk alternative that doesn't melt.
