The fields that you put them in raise their happiness, if you put them in the field that corresponds with their type. Like you put the bugs in the bug field, and they will be happy, but if you put a bug in lets say, the fire field, he will become unhappy, and might consider running away.

like if you were to put a fire pokemon in a water area.. if you put them in the field that is their weakness it makes them unhappy over time.

Click on the "Farm" tab. There will be a button at the top of the page that says "Go To Fields". Each field says what type it is, so that makes things easier.
